Monochrome at Anything Goes Challenge

Handbag Memo Pad And Pen Saver !

Hi, Everyone
Hope you have all kept warm in this snowy weather and found some time to craft! The schools have been closed here for some days so both children have been at home!!

Over at ANYTHING GOES CHALLENGE BLOG, it is time for our new challenge.
Challenge85 calls for your  MONOCHROME creations, so I know you will all have lots of stash on hand for this and plenty of exciting ideas.
I really hope you will pop over and join us in the fun. You can link in HERE, and pop and see what my lovely teamies have also created for your inspiration.
SO...... this is my first design team project.
I decided, been as I can never find paper and pen when I need it, that I would make a little memo pad and pen holder. Here it is. Hope you enjoy it.

The handbag blank is made up  of several layers. I cut just one layer from it to make my design shape and covered it with black and white spotted papers from my stash. The top flap was created using a journalling card and layered onto the base, using foam pads. A faux leather effect lock and side straps was made by die cuttung card using PaperArtsy's Hardware 1 and then embossing the pieces in a cuttlebug with the Stylized Flower embossing folder. This die also produces the little faux design label for the base of the bag. Everyone needs a designer label !!

The pieces were coloured and the handbag edged, with black soot distress ink to add a little definition and a row of little black gems at the top of the bag gives a little bling! Every girl needs bling!!

The flowers were die cut from black glitter card using PaperArtsy Grunge flower 3, snipped at intervals along the edge to give a bit of height and a small white flower and gem added to each. The leaves were made using Marianne Creatable....Forest Branch. These were all positioned and stuck down with glossy accents. A magazine freebie trim was adhered to the bottom edgeand two holes were punched at the top of the bag ready to insert some black hanging chain.

The back was covered as before and then a memo pad attached over a ribbon trim and adhered with strong tape. The same ribbon was rolled around a mini cardboard tube and stuck down to house the pen. Finally the chain was added .Hopefully now I will always find a paper and pen when I need it!!!!!!
Hope you enjoyed seeing this.............below are the ingredients.

Playing !!!!!!!!!

Hi All,
Had time for a little play yesterday and the day before, with some new items from Splodge Away, am really loving the masks and what you can do with them all and the StenSkape is brill!! Hoping after blitzing the house to have some more time with these later. For now here are a few I created, literally just usuing the masks and Distress inks!

Made the background and stamped bulrushes in the foreground. Created the scene with the Stenskape, cut into 2 uunequal sizes, matted and layered onto black shiny card stock, then matched and positioned with the foreground images. A misty mornings fishing!!!
I am entering this for the following challenges.

Again using the same mask, created this.using variuos distress inks. Added a little fishing rod to show all his endeavours were not in vane!
I will be entering this into Crafty Boots Challenge..New

This roses mask is gorgeous...used it randomy to create the back ground added a border and ribbon trim then used the mask as a stencil and cut out three flowers and flourishes, The heart is a large mask that was coloured onto shrink plastic and shrunk. A few gems were then added and a little sentiment printed out and attached.
Am entering this for
Craft Room Challenge....monotone
Crafty Boots Challenge,,new

Final one for now is this lovely oriental bamboo mask. Coloured over the entire card with black soot distress and then embossed ti give an enamelled effect, then bumped it to the right slightly, to give a shadow area which was then coloured in fired brick and stormy skies. The centr of the mask was cut away and an oriental image from my stash placed beneth and attached. Lastly a decoupaged Japanese lady was adde to the foreground.
I will be entering this into Crafty Boots Challenge..new
Hope you enjoed peeking at these and thanks for any comments they are much appreciated.

A Marie Antoinette Trilogy

Hi Everyone,

Hope you have all had a good day. I've beeen lucky enough to have a free day and so was able to settle down to play in my craftroom for a while. I thought today I would make some a.t.c's with a slight difference. Usually I am an inky, stainy, distressing, stamping, kind of bod, so thought today I would set myself a little challenge to make these mini works of art without using any of the above techniques!!1 What I hear you gasp, no distress!!1 No, today I went back to where it all began....making little atc's using papers and glues images and embellishments, and I have to say I really enjoyed it, it made a nice change, although they took longer to make than I seem to remember! Or have I just become more particular in my old age.

So, here we have a young Marie Antoinette

The base card was covered in Lawrence LLewellyn damask paper. Onto this was layered a vellum damask in gold, followed by a vintage letter, in french, all set at a jaunty angle. (looking at the pic, not sure you can see this!!! note to self don't shake the camera!!! LOL ) The image was a free download , which I mounted on 3d foam tabs for height, while the little crown was cut from the same paper pack.
The shield and cherubs were a die cut, which necded a little something, so the tiny Eiffel tower embellishment was great and fitted perfectly. Added heavy burgundy trim to the base before glossy accenting the shild on. Three French stamps, two little flowers, and........no, left out the partridge in a pear tree!!!! Tee Hee!!

Next we have an older Marie, beautifully poised for her portrait.

I used the same paper pack for the base, as above and then some lush torn hand made paper for the next layer, again adding a little french script paper. The frame is felt and has been in my stash for longer than I can remember! Again a free image cut slightly larger than the frame covered in acetate and placed behine the aperture. Went a little over the top with the tiny wee gems, but hey ho.The small shield was mounted as before and a wax seal made for the corner, hiding the tassle attachment. A ceramic flower button finished the project

The last of the trilogy is an older and grumpier Marie!! and yes " LET THEM EAT CAKE! "....YUM says me.

The base of this, is an old photographic advertisment, again a free download. as is the main image, which I cut out and mounted on 3d foam to give some dimension. A lace trim was added to the left border and a mini tag of the Eiffel tower. The cup cake and sign, I think are papermania as is the little one in Marie's hand! Finally, crystal trim was attached to the base......C'est Fini!!!

Hope you enjoyed looking at what I've been up to today. Pop back soon, until then......

Embossed Wall Art

Hi everyone,
Here is my little offering for today, although it's taken me several to complete! Am hoping to enter this for a few challenges, but am having major issues with blogger at the moment and have only now just sorted out uploading.....I think I have now missed a few deadlines. Any way hope you enjoy seeing this. Sorrry the photos are nos as good as usual...not day light!!!!! The actual colours of this project are white and powdre blue!!!!!!

It started life as a piece of white artboard, which I painted in eco powder blue acrylic and gave a swipe over with a baby wipe to lighten the effect. I then added some die cut vellum florishes ( T Holtz ). but how to attach?? Well I used a black glue stick. Not in colour but in packaging by Pritt. It was brill and didn't show through, so was delighted.

I cut out 6 pieces of grunge board and treated each one to a slightly different technique and embossed each oneusing a cuttlebug and here they are individually.

Embossed this through the cuttlebug with Tim's dotty folder and painted surface with powder blue  acrylic. Left to dry then swiped over Fresco finish snowflake.Die cut the flowers and butterfly which was also embossed using the same folder.

This piece of grungeboard wa slightly smudged with  snowflake acrylic
embossed with the swirls and swiped with blue. The chipboard piece was given the same treatment and the gems added.

I was pleased with this one. I embossed a piece of left over packaging the effect is great!!! Dabbed snowflake on the reverse and when dry used humungo tape to adhere to the painted blue grunge. Embossed a little border and added the flowers and gems. This is soooo much better in real life!! Believe me.

This piece is embossed vellum onto acrylic painted grunge. Love this image. A little bow and a few well chosen gems was all I thought it neededaafter a little sanding of the vellum.

This section was the grunge painted in snowflake and edged in powder blue. I chose some heavy weight card stock for this, painted it to match, embossed with text folder and dabbed with snowflake. Then added the exras!!...Loving how the butterfly turned out!

And lastly but not least the beautiful dove of peace. Lightweight card embossed and distressed then mounted on the painted grunge.

My final thing was a die cut bird sitting on another vellum  florish painted card stock was used  for this and embossed with swiss dots and highlighted.

Found a lovely ribbon in my stash, just the right colour with the words dream believe etc. on. I punched 2 holes and used the ribbon as my hanger.

Well hope you enjoyed seeing it and thanks if you popped over from docrafts too.  I intend to keep this as a reference for what different cardsock, vellum etc look like when embossed . Hopefully I'm not too late to enter this one. Will update my challenges later tonight.

Hi All,

Just have to tell you my little bit of news!!!! I guess for most of you this is old hat, but I hope you remember the feeling when it first happened to you!!11 Yes.. Ientered a challenge for Artistic inspirations and was chosen as a winner!!!1 I  am now the proud owner of a badge to atest this fact in my side bar!!1 i was thrilled. I won for the recent steampunk clock I made. Every challenge has a theme here, but also every week is also anything goes, so it's well worth a visit. Had three lovely sets of digistamps for my win, I chose two of toadstools and a fab little owl.

Haven't used digistamps before so there's a first time for everything.

Have also been shopping and bought quite a lot of the new docrafts Chronology range, which is great value and so much cheaper than Mr. Holtz!!!!1 Hvaing to watch the pennies more at the moment especially as Megan is learning to drive....not that I can yet afford the insurance for her!!!1

Hoppe everyone is enjoying crafting. Cailean returns to school tomorrow so have set aside 2 whole days to be creative... that's the plan at least, so hope to add some pics soon

Meanwhile carry on crafting and thanks for letting me mention my win!!!LOL
