Hi All,

Here's a little project I began some time ago and have just managed to put the finishing touches to!!!! It was inspired by a great backing paper I found in a little craft shop in a sale for a mere 20p! The faint watch and clock details were great as a background and  I had the little round canvas lyijng about in my stash, and yes it shouted out CLOCK and STEAMPUNK!!! I wanted to be a little more girlie with the colours and this is what it developed into. No doubt as it's for me I will continue  to add embellishments as the mood takes me!!

The canvas was painted first in acrylics and sealed. The backing paper cut to fit and then the fun. Various stamps of cogs were stamped on to the paper, some highlighted with stickles, glossy accents and other cogs stamped and cut for a 3d effect. I built up the outer edges and then set about the inner circle. The large clock face was from the steam punk pack I bought from create and craft yonks ago. Found a lovely angel for the centre piece which I covered with a clear mini dome. before mounting the hands with glossy accents.

The dragonfly was an old brooch which I coloured using alcohol inks and added some gems. An old chain cut up serves as the pulleys of the clock and the two mini clocks at the base were also coloured with alcohol inks.

I will be entering this for Challenge 21 Anythingoes/celebrations at http://artisticinspirationscrafts.blogspot.co.uk/
Also Anything goes at http://simonsaysstampandshow.blogspot.co.uk/

Really enjoyed making this home decor piece and hope you enjoyed seeing it to.

Hi to all my followers and friends. December has seen me for the greater part without a computer!!!!! it has been AWOL for most of the month being mended!! AGAIN!! Hope you all ahd a really good Christmas and I would like to wish you all a very Safe and Happy New Year......Here's to 2013. A year when, for once, I do intend to set down some realistic and achieveable resolutions and aim to make my mark!!

This is quite new for me as I feel I do drift along a little without really taking the proverbial bull by the horns. Not this new year. I know I am about to start a new chapter with my family as you may know, with a new home, when this one is sold. Where that will be I don't yet know but am hoping all will be well and am trying to think of everything as a new positive direction, rather than a challenge!!!

Hoping to be more creative to and set some new goals for myself in this direction this year too, so watch this space as they say!!!!!! Have entered for my first DT call at http://beyondgrey.blogspot.in/ so here's hoping!!!

Thanks for all the lovely comments that have been left too. I am intent on getting to each one of you in turn and checking out all your lovely creations. So...................until then HAPPY NEW YEAR ALL

Recent ATC's

From Time To Time

This is the only one theat I am entering for a challenge. Over at http://anythingbutacard.blogspot.ca/ the challenge is to include a creation that has something to do with a Stitch in time. This can be taken from any angle, I decided to use the time slant on this and came up with the following.

I started with 2 blank ATC cards and covered these with varying thicknesses of Gesso, then sandwiched them together, sticky sides facing and squashed them together with my fingers. Gently these were peeled away from each other, leaving a great textured background. Left them to dry overnight and then used distress inks and water to colour them. (aged mahogany, vintage photo and spiced marmalade) I gently sanded back a few areas to allow the white of the Gesso to show through.
Stamped some cogs in dark brown ink and added faux metal die cut cogs to their centres. Finally stamped and aged the saying and cut the clock butterfly and hands from Crafty Individuals booklet and stuck everything down, using foam pads to add more dimension to the clock face.
All the other ATCs were created using the same technique for the background, which I am loving as it gives such great texture. If you haven't tried this do.....it's quick easy and great fun, as no two backgrounds are ever the same!!
Hope you enjoy these others!!
ATC Fantasy Fairy 3x3 swap with StampinKay

 ATC .Autumn swapped with Juliaamy
ATC .....The gull, swapped with Alzabethy
Hope all is well and you are enjoying your crafting

If You're Going To San Francisco .........

Here's my offering for the day. A little altered beer mat. I haven't done one of these for a while and was inspired to do this particular one by a challenge on the Art Stuio website challenge, which having a new logo wanted you to create something, anything in their new colours....so here it is.

If Your Going To San Francisco..................Covered the beer mat in pale paper and rubbed the edges back. Used Studio 45 and Bline stamps, my all time fav!!! for the background, added a little sparkle to the cross hatch. Punched the whole for the twisted wire and then stamped the girl and clear embossed.Do you all remember the song???? Well ric rac fitted the kind of hippy chick, so thought I'd add it. All that was left was to add the gems, flowers and hat pins.
Hope you like it.

Two Posts In One Day I Hear You Cry!!!!!!!

This card was entered into the DoCrafts A-Z Challenge this week. You were asked to include weaving and watercolouring......how out of my comfort zone is this!!!!! So decided to take them up on it and this is the result. For such a simple basic card it took forever!!! mostly wondering how to adhere the woven piece onto the project and die cut without fraying everything........backto basics and trusty double sided tape with backing left on to die cut and then very gingerly removed.
Will also be entering this for the Design team call at
Here's the result       http://beyondgrey.blogspot.co.uk/2012/12/dt-call-2013.html

Thought I'd be a bit aesthetic and take it against the blinds!!! It sort of reminded me of the wooden style of the beach huts1 Yeah, yeah, I hear you say. If you think so!!! Tee Hee.Well having struggled with the woven sections who was I to throw out all those scraps and bits and bobs?? So what did I do.......made another card to enter the challenge.
Here it is, same techniques, just different stamp, but my watercolouring is slightly better....no Picasso me!!
Thanks for popping bye.......till tomorrow.....More to upload if the computer plays ball!!Bye for now

Wall Plaque .........Free to fly

                                                Wall Plaque.................Free To Fly

Am entering this into SundayStamperChallenge....Bird http://anythingbutacard.blogspot.ca/2012/12/anything-but-card-challenge-9-anything.htmls, also  and It's All About The Vintage and Beauty

Have also taken the plunge and am entering this for the Design team call at http://beyondgrey.blogspot.co.uk/2012/12/dt-call-2013.html
Hi All my crafting Buddies!!!! I know it's been a very long time since I've blogged, but as some of you know life has thrown a lot of curved balls at me recently and it has taken the wind out of my sails somewhat......however, I am back crafting now and learning to take control again and looking forward to the future, with all it has to offer.
To get me back on track decided to have a bit of a dabble with some canvas art board, metal and Terra paste along withwhatever else sprang to mind. This little wall art sort of evolved as I was playing and recalling long lost techniques. I knew I was thinking about life and the what nexts we often let our minds wander to and I think this is why the birds and their home played such a major role in this creation,
Perhaps somewhere in the back of my overactive mind I was considering the fact that I can still fly and spread my wings.....hence perhaps the significance of the feathers...but I still have home, my nest where I love to be.
Now.... how deep is all that for a Thursday night. Anyway have a new computer with a mind of its own and it only rarely lets me upload onto my blog. WHY???????? Poor excuse I know, but I have been trying to master this for ages and Blogger has changed too!!!! How behind the times am I???
Anyway will try to upload the close ups now.
Hope everyone is well and enjoying their crafty moments........here goes!!!!!!

The board was covered in varying thicknessesof Terra past and then heated with heat gun. This gives great texture and allows the terra to bubble up the thicker the paste the more defined the bubbles. Two corners had embossed metal added to them and here the paste was blended into the edges, you'll see this in a mo. The whole was then painted in acrylics and again dried . The raised ares were highlighted with INKAGOLD copper, which doesn't really show in these pics so well. Sorry. Stamps used were B line stamps coloured with Prisma coloured pencils. Flowers Flourishes and Tim Holtz dies were used for the birdies and cage. Last thing...................decide where to placeeverything!!!!!!Why oh why does this always tae me so long!!!!!!!!!

Hopefully you can see the embossed brickwork of metal beneath this image??

This is a bit clearer!!!! The metal was embossed with the music design and then adhered with humungo tape onto the board prior to terra and paint.....I really like the effect of the bubbled terra, great texture.

Bit of a squewy picture!!!! Love this saying and use it a lot, perhas too much!! Ah well.Kept the music theme flowing of the bird song by mounting it on a musical stamp I found whilst having a rummage!!
Lastly, but not least my birdie friends, used real feathers foe their wings ass I felt they deserved that and then they would be able to fly free!!!!

Music for the birds!!
Well I think I've managed to complete this. Hope you enjoyed seeing my latest offering and thank you for any comments you might leave. I really appreciate your taking the time to peek.
Happy crafting till next time.

Behind The Screen

This is a view of the back of the screen and what is behind it................our gorgeous lady. So glad we don't have to wear all this now!!!! What  a to do getting undressed!!!

These are the two images of the screen flat, so that you can see the images a little more clearly, not brilliant photography, but think it show up well enough.

I got the idea for doing screens from a workshop I went to some years ago with Lina Elbourne. I've wanted to make a monochrome one for some time and now I have and it sits in a bathroom as that's also black and white and I thought the images suited the location too. I did say on the DC site that I would give a brief description of how to make this, so here goes, although I'm not too good at this so forgive me. Hope you can follow it, have included a few photos to help!!

1. Gather all the bits together you will need, these are shown in the picture below and include

2 A4 sheets of greyboard/ thick cardboard
Papers of your choice in 2 contrasting patterns or colours
Embellishments, of your choice, e.g.buttons, flowers, charms, flourishes
Reel of ribbon
Adhesives, tape, glossy accents
Punches if desired
4 images
Ink pad in matching/contrasting colour
Bind it all machine, cropodial or whole puncher

2. Cut 4 pieces of greyboard, measuring10x21cms. Using a curved edge ( I used a C.D.) align at the top of the board and draw round with a pencil. Cut out. each piece the same.

3. Choose the 4 main images, I used the Dancing With Shadows Joanna Sheen C.D. for mine. Round all the corners with a punch.
Using 2 different papers, cover the greyboard on both sides, so that you have 2 of each pattern at the front and back of the screen
Glue into position and trim any overhang. Next use your ink pad to ink all the outer edges to mask the greyboard.

I used a Bind it all for the hole punching, but you could use a hole punch, cropodial or any other tool. If you are not using a Bindit all use a sheet of spare paper as a pattern for the position of the holes. This way you can be sure every piece will marry up with the next. You don't need as many as I have made, but enough to secure the pieces together so that it will stand up firmly.

5.You will need 5 pieces of ribbon. Each piece needs to be 3.5 times the height of your boards.
Starting at the bottom lace up the ribbon until you reach the top and tie firmly with a bow. Continue like this until all pieces are firmly held together........ and now the fun starts!!!!! Add you chosen images and embellish ti your hearts content!!!

Hope these instructions have been helpful and you enjoy making one, they can be made to suit any and every occasion!!
Let me know how you get on/.
Am entering this piece in the Anything goes blog Design Team call
The design team call out for
Will also be entering this for Make It Monday

My New Craft Room

Actually, I've been in here  for a few months now, but it's only a few days ago that I managed to finish sorting out all my stash!!!Should I group thing in colour, themes, makers, or what....or should I subdivide into wooden stamps and clear stamps???? What about the stamps that fall into more than one category!!! The questions were endless and so I sorted, resorted and then sorted again, until I'm finally happy and organised......problem is now it;s so organised I can't find any thing!!! Guess I'll get use to it soon. This is the view as I come into the door. The room is so light but these pics don't really show it.
This is the opposite end of the room!!1 How tidy!! This is probably the only time it will ever look like this.Cailean still likes to come up her so have the desks to the side so the wheelchair gets in, but that's not often now. Mind you Megan has taken to using it too for her artwork!!     The last few picture are of the sides and my stash!! I realise now I am a self confessed craft collector!!If I buy nothing more now I should use this all up bt the age of about 237!!!!LOL:) Does that ring any bells with anyone ??

Final picture!!!! Just to the left of this you can see a smidgen of glass door this is the lift entrance area for Cailean. Also very handy when I'm carting up more goodies to play with.I know I shpuld use the stairs and keep fir, but hey ho!!

Hope you enjoyed the little peek and yes I know I;m very very lucky to have this space and willalways use it well. Some have suggested ther is room for classes, which ther is and hopefully that is what I would dearly love to do.....just need to be more confident and do it!!!
Hope evryone is well and until next time....enjoy your crafting moments

This frame began life as a 20p bargain.....old gold scratched and plastic !!! After a few coats of fresco finish paint, I love the chalky effect it gives , it was ready to be filled

Used Tina Higgins papers which I muted down with Spiced Marmalade and then cut the other ovals, one just distressed, the other stamped in Vintage Photo and then again spiced marmalade.

The stamp is from the new urban square range by Docrafts and is lovely. Stamped up a second image of the butterfly coloured and mounted.

Final touches was to add the flourishes and embellishments.

Had fun doing it and it does fall in line with the challenge, but now wish I had also added a more contrasting colour.....looks a bit like it's been Tangoed!! LOL

Hope all is well with everyone. Till next time

Hi Everyone, sorry no postings recently, life has been really hectic here with Cailean at home post op. Also, apologies for not having visited all your blogs!!!! Will soon get back in the swing of things!! This is just a little card I made for my Mum who is coming up for the Jubilee Celebrations. I couldn't resist this little Beefeater stamp!!

m off now to see if I can upload the second card for my sister, but seem to be having  trouble with it, but will attempt it again now!! Deep breath.....

Had to use this little guy again and love the London stamps I've just bought think they will prove very useful. The background is just distress inks and the images stamped and masked. After it was all put together, it seemed to me the little Beefeater looked a bit as if he was a tour guide, you know the type you see in London etc. holding up their sign for their group to follow!!! Then I thought no.....he looks like he's holding up the traffic just for me! SO..... with all that in mind I have named the card after that classic Ralph McTell song..... Let Me Take You By The Hand And Lead You Through The Streets Of London. It just seemed appropriate.

Well that's all for now folks as they say... hoping all is really well with you and yours and that you are enjoying your crafty moments. Until next time.

Megan's horse in Pastels and Charcoal

Just thught I would put this beautiful drawing up that Megan created, using pastels and charcoal!!!
I do not have the patience nor will I ever have the talent to create something like this, but am so proud of her! It is part of her exam work for G.C.S.E. She so under estimates herself but this is a favourite of mine, so thought I would share it with you! I know you will enjoy seeing it, especially as she is only 16yrs.   A future artist, Who knows? I think I should get her to sign things what say?.
Well happy crafting everyone

Altered Mini Book

Hi Everyone,

Hope your all enjoying your crafting. Have just finished this mini alterd book and am quite pleased with how it's turned out. Can't remember quite where I saw this in the first place, but would like to thank those that inspired me to have a go!!

This actually looks bigger than it is !!  The book itself was 4x4 inches. Thought this would be a nice size for my first attempt. Chose the lavender colours so that they match my bedroom, or at least will when it's decorated!!

I began by folding each page in half towards the centre and then distreesed the pages with scattered straw and rusty hinge Distress Inks.......so glad at this point that I had not chosen to use a large volume of an encyclopedia!!!

The inside covers were covered with L Llewelyn vintage paper, lace distressed in mulled lavender and gems attached to highlight the lace,t he extra nice bit was to decide which bits then to add. I had to think in miniature and a lot of the things I wanted to use were too overpowering, (Have to do a larger book for these now!)  The book was on Palmistry originally and so I thought I would use deep and meaningful words that I could look at each day.

When finished I knew there was something missing so added the tassle and the cherub......job done.

Hope you like it and want to have a little go of this.

The Birds !!

Hi Everone,
Spent a lovely hour today, listening and watching all th birds in the garden. Wood pigeons courting, busy robins, starlings and tits, all chirppily going about their business and I thought how lovely all their ddifferent sounds were. It reminded me of a saying on one of my stamps. So I created this simple little card to remind myself to stop, look and listen at some point in my busy day and just enjoy, for free, all that Nature provides us with.

Hope it makes you stop for a while to and listen!!

More A.T.C.'S !!!

Hi Everyone,
It seem I just can't get enough of these little pieces of art work at the moment. Am really enjoying myself getting messy and working on a small scale! It makes a change.Have basically played with my distress inks to colour the backgrounds, spritz, over ink etc.etc. Thought I'd try just a few colour combinations I don't normally put together .

Have had these brill Wendi Vecchi stamps and only used them once before, so today, cleared my desk and only allowed a minimum of inks and stamps!! How controlled am I?!

Couldn't resist putting a clear covering over the eye in each. But after I had done it I thought they looked a bit like a monocle and wasn't sure if I had done right, but hey ho. They're stuck inplace now, so I'll go with the flow!

Not a good shot of this one, the sun came out and cast a shadowso it looks a bit squiffy. This is my favourite and was made by spritzing the craft mat when I'd finished and using the wet distress as the background colour. Had seen this done but not tried it!! Waste not want not, as they say.

Well hope you've all ahd a good day. The sun has shone here and the spring flowers are looking great. Can't wait for my new Queen of the night tulips to bloom so I can see their colour!!

Oh such is life's simle pleasures......that reminds me, I have a stamp that says exactly that. Maybe tomorrow I'll use it!
Till next time, enjoy your crafting moments
Carol xx

p.s.does anyone know how I edit photos on my blog post? Wanted to crop all these and I probably have the facility, but not the brains!! Thanks

A.T.C.S for DC

Hi everyone, it's been a while and hope this post finds you all well in enjoying your crafting. Am having fun on the DC site and meeting lots of new friends, which is great!! I'm hoping that I can keep up both and have set my intention to at least write/ create every few days. At least that's the theory, hope and desire!

Apologies for delay in updating my blog, but Cailean has been in Oxford in hospital, undergoing major surgery. At last he is home and recovering. but we know it will be a long road, but he's a determined young man and we know he will get there!!

So here are a few bits and bobs I've been making. Hope you enjoy looking and that I will be back with more very soon.

                  TRANQUIL SUNSET ATC

This is exactly where I would have liked to have been today!! We had the worst and longest hail storm I have ever seen!! It was like snow and settled on the ground for ages.

                                                                                                                 TIMELESS ATC
I was pleased how this eventually turned out although the picture is really not good. Thought at first it might be heading for the bin as I couldn't get the background to go as I wanted. In the end it all came together, thankfully!

This is sort of my take on steam punk and started by stamping onto bronze metal then embossing by hand. The background is made up a lot of different stamps and distressed to give a more masculine, vintage feel. I think the clock with wings is Paperartsy, but forgive me if I'm wrong. Have so enjoyed making these mini pieces of art, I'd forgotten how good it was to come back to. Luckily carolV also liked this one and asked to swap it after only being on the site 10mins!! So I was delighted!!

Well thats all for now folks as the saying goes!! As I said will try to blog a little more now things are settling down. Until then.....enjoy your crafting moments.
Love Carol xx

Clean and Simple

This is a simple card I am entering into the One Stop Craft Challenge this week, which calls for a cleanand simple design. Love this stylish Debbi Moore Stamp, and decided to keep it extra simple, by stamping directly onto cream card, embossing in black and of coarse adding some bling. The sentiment stamp is a B Line favourite stamp of mine and the swirl apologies but can't quite remeber the make.

It made a change for me not to be over fussy!!

What Beermat

Believe it or not this pretty wall hanging for my sister began life as a Guiness beermat from St. Patrick's Day. I made it a few days ago but have only now managed to put it on. She already had it on the wall so today I borrowed it to put on the blog. Hence the blu tack on the next shot.

I covered the entire front with some pale pink paper and sanded all the sides back for a better finish. The lace at the top is a B line desin called lace duo and I love it it looks almost real! The lower section was again stamped with a B Line stamp....called Black Mesh. I punched 2 holes and inserted eyelets using the cropodile, inserted jump rings and a little chain, which isn't in the picture!! The flower and butterfly were coloured with Dusky Concord Distress ink and then overstamped using Studio 490 All About Art Stamp.

I added some adhesive ribbon tape in a lacy pattern where the stamped images of the background met  and then added the TimHoltz plaque with the word play underneath. I filled this with crackle glaze.

Glossy accents was used to stick everything on and the faux gems added.
My sister loves it and hope you have enjoyed looking too.
Happy Crafting
